Open terminal (ctrl+option+t) and run sudo nano /etc/default/grub. Now we need to make that nomodeset setting permanent.Ubuntu should boot up– though the display may be screwy. Once you’re at a text-only menu, press e and add nomodeset to the line of code discussed above. Repeat step #3 above if you’re presented with the EFI option. To do this, as the computer is starting up again after restart, right after you hear the Apple/Mac start-up sound, hold the SHIFT key.
